Hello Loves, So 2014 is here and once again its time to shift our focus and begin the road to the Miss World finals. The Nyeri county edition is going down tonight at the Green Hills Hotel. It proves to be an event worth attending. So what do we know about pageants? I love watching the shows as much as the next girl, but from watching the controversial Toddler and Tiaras to The Miss World Competitions held annually, my knowledge about what goes on in this competitions is almost nonexistent .Some may have preconceived notions about pageants which may be biased (Media does not help either) but what we see is girls who are driven, passionate and most of all intelligent. The title is not all about looks but comes with a greater responsibility. You become an ambassador to not just your county but to your country and the world. Look at our very own Cecilia Mwangi, even after the crown she is still very much involved in community initiatives ‘The Anti Jigger Campaign’ with Ahadi Kenya. I’m actually glad that the competition is involving all the counties in the country giving each girl a fair chance. There’s nothing as bad as having all the contestants coming from one part of the country and leaving everyone else feeling like ugly Betty and like they don’t stand a chance to save the world.
We finally have the official candidates contending to represent Nyeri county for the coveted Miss World. The event, which will be held at The Green Hills Hotel, will bring together beauties from all over the county. The pressure has been on all week long with the girls being trained communication skills, etiquette, presentation, personal grooming, and personal development. The beauties have also been doing charity work fulfilling the mantra of Beauty with a Purpose. The beauties will be competing in four categories, Introduction, Casual wear, African Wear and The Evening gown category. Featured Designs will include Ashok Sunny’s collection of designs. Local designers like Jane Njeri and Arnold Mureithi will also feature their designs.
