“Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”
― Coco ChanelChanel

If there is ever a simple and modest color combination ever invented, that is simple to pair and both elegant and sophisticated, it has to be black and white; and you can ask Kris Jenner! She is by far the queen of black and white, from her clothes to her house practically everything she owns looks flawless in black and white.

Black trumpet skirt: Thrifted// Black clutch with gold detail: Betty’s shop//

There really isn’t any rule on pairing these two colors together; you can decide what color you prefer for your bottoms and for your tops. Its one of those classic, fabulous styles that should be every girl’s go to.

You could however play around with different textures and patterns when it comes to this trend, from stripes to houndstooth, polka dots, gingham or checkered prints, there is no limit to the many different styles you can achieve from a combination of only two colors(see here and here).

Let’s take an example of my Ootd that I wore to my cousin’s graduation party recently. I must say creating the perfect look was not very complicated.

I paired a white blouse which had some lace details with a black trumpet skirt.  Black and gold have always looked great together, that’s why I went for this particular purse, made from black leather and some gold details which I scored at a friend’s shop.

To break up the monochromatic look, I opted for some blue ankle strap heels to help accentuate the look. The end result was a preppy look which suited the occasion since we were talking all things school.

Remember though create your own style…let it be unique for yourself and yet identifiable for others. Mix it up and add some edge to all your looks. Give us your thoughts on our look today and leave us a comment below!
